A really good video on the different Grand Canyon hiking trails.

Grand Canyon Hiking 3513

This video covers the different Grand Canyon Hiking trails.  This is one of the better videos out there but  it runs fast so pay close attention because it provides a lot of good tips.

Here’s a few key points in case you missed them:

  1. The hardest part of the hike is when you’re at the end facing a steep uphill climb, already tired, and in searing heat.
  2. Know your limits.
  3. Bad planning and preparation can cost you, either a very expensive helicopter ride or worse, your life.
  4. Hiking the Grand Canyon should not be taken lightly.
  5. It’s essential to carry your own water. -  1 gallon per person per day.
  6. Carry high energy snacks – Preferably salty to retain water.
  7. A Backcountry Hiking Permit is required when spending the night.  You can reserve up to 4 months in advance.

Happy Hiking!
